Free Microsoft Certification Exams Available

Education
Anne Arundel Community College on Nov. 6 will give out vouchers allowing Maryland residents who are not state employees to take free Microsoft Certified Applications Specialist exams.
Microsoft Corporation and Certiport have donated thousands of free certification exam vouchers to states around the country as part of an initiative called Elevate America. The program’s goal is to improve Americans’ access to education and workforce skills to strengthen the U.S. economy and increase global competitiveness.
AACC’s Testing Center on the Arnold campus is an approved test site for the exams.
The vouchers allow residents to take one exam at no charge in one topic area: Microsoft Office 2007 Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint or Word or Vista. There is no requirement to enroll in a class at AACC. However, participants must agree to let the state of Maryland track them for a year to see if having a certification improved their employment status.
To get an exam voucher, attend registration from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the Student Services Center on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Bring your photo identification and proof of state residency (such as a Maryland driver’s license) to the registration table. The vouchers expire in January 2010.
