Step 3: Search for and Secure an Internship
- An internship is a mutual match-making process that needs to be a good fit for both the student and the employer.

Step 4: Seek Credit-Based Internship Support
- There are many advantages to credit-based internships, and most academic departments at AACC offer a course for college credit to accompany your internship experience.
- With the help of a faculty advisor, interns engage in high-quality work-based academic engagement through meaningful learning objectives.
- Once you have obtained an internship offer, report back to your internship coordinator to discuss next steps, such as:
collaborating on learning objectives on which you will receive a grade and
registering for the appropriate AACC internship course.
Step 5: File Learning Objectives and a MOU with the Internship Office
- Click herePDF to obtain a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is designed to establish boundaries and clarify expectations on your internship.
- Work with your faculty advisor to create clear learning objectives for your internship. Examples of learning objectives include:
practicing a particular skill, and
getting worksite mentoring on particular theories as applied in the real world.
Step 6: Provide Feedback
- Your experience with the employer, faculty and staff supporting your internship experience is important to us. Communication is of utmost importance. If you encounter any problems, feel free to express your concerns at any time so that we may assist you immediately.
- At the end of your experience, please send an e-mail to us to wrap up your experience and to provide any feedback or suggestions.
